Persian Date and walnut Cake Shiraz style (Ranginak) رنگینک شیراز، دسر جنوب ایران

Ingredients:

( for a plate with 35-40 dates or 20 cups)

  • Dates
  • Some Walnuts
  • Plain Flour 2 cups (or around 10 full tablespoons)
  • Butter (frying oil) 200 gr
  • Some Sugar Powder
  • Some Cinnamon
  • Some Cardamom

 toast walnuts for 3-5 minutes

Wash the dates

Remove seeds from the dates, Place ¼ of a walnut in each date

Arrange the dates in a plate with no space between them

Or into cupcake liners

In a deep pan, add butter, over low-medium heat,  until the butter is melted,

add Flour, stir all the time with a wooden spoon

Stir well until syrup turns a light brown color,

add half a teaspoon of Cardamom

add half a teaspoon of Cinnamon, mix well

pour the syrup over the dates

cover the dates by the mixture, Set aside to cool (about 1-2 hours)

sprinkle with powdered sugar all over the plate

Use Cinnamon powder for decoration
