Persian Lentil Rice (First recipe) عدس پلو روش اول


300 gr Ground beef (optional)

1 cup Lentil

One bunch Coriander

One Onion

5-6 Cloves of Garlic

Some Ginger

vegetable oil, salt, pepper, turmeric, Saffron

3 cups Rice

Soak lentils 2 hours before and drain

put them in saucepan and boil, cook until the grains are soft and just almost done

in a food processor blend the onion, 5 cloves of garlic, ginger ( or finely dice)

put the mixture  into a frying pan, add some oil

add the ground meat,

stir-fry until the color change, add one teaspoon turmeric, Salt and pepper

add 3 cups of rice, 2 cups of water, Saffron, salt, some vegetable oil and…the chopped coriander ,

put the lid on, turn on the electric rice cooker (or any kind of pot), During the half time of  the Rice cooking process( after 10-15 mins),  until the water is mostly absorbed,

add all ingredients and mix with half-cooked rice,

avoid reaching the ingredients in the bottom of the pan,

dig some deep holes in the rice mixture with a handle of a (wooden) spoon to make sure the water will evaporate !

put the lid on, and let the cooking process continue on low heat,

 rice cooking time totally : around 45-60 mins

This delicious dish is perfect accompanied with Pomegranate paste
